Bloodhound Welcomes Daniel Brotzel
Bloodhound are thrilled to welcome Daniel Brotzel, author of Hotel du Jack and look forward to publishing two of his novels in 2024!
Dan Brotzel's books include a collection of funny-sad short stories, Hotel du Jack (Sandstone/Vertebrate) and a comic novel-in-emails about an eccentric writers' group, Work in Progress (Unbound, co-authored). The Wolf in the Woods is his first Bloodhound book.
Dan's short stories and humour pieces have appeared in Slackjaw, The Fence, Tiny Molecules, X-RAY, Pithead Chapel, Ellipsis Zine, Reflex Fiction, Cabinet of Heed, Bending Genres, Spelk and many other places. His stories have won several Pushcart and Best of the Net nominations, and have featured in several creative writing courses and workshops.
Dan won the 2018 Riptide Journal short story competition, was runner-up in the Leicester Writes 2019 and Aesthetica 2021 competitions, and was highly commended in the 2019 Manchester Writing Prize, the UK's biggest award for unpublished short fiction. Hotel du Jack was also shortlisted for the Eyelands International award.
